How to Find a Good Chemistry Tutor
How to Find a Good Chemistry TutorYou're a budding chemist with a strong interest in chemistry and are eager to start your chemistry studies but just don't know how to find a good chemistry tutor? This is a common problem and you will find that many chemistry teachers around the world are struggling to help their students to achieve this aim. Even if you've already taken up your first university chemistry course, it's important that you continue your studies as chemistry is a very broad subject, as well as a hard one.The best way to find a good chemistry tutor is to seek out information from those who have been successful at achieving this goal. They can guide you in some ways on how to find a good chemistry tutor online or even by contacting a private tutor in your local area. Whatever you do, it's important that you know the value of the advice given by someone who has been there before. When you look for a chemistry tutor it's important that you are flexible and willing to change c ourse if you realise that you are not enjoying your studies or there are a few areas that are not being tackled properly. There's a lot of information available about the topic that you're studying so it's important that you utilise this before you look to find a good chemistry tutor. If you get all the information that you need from a good online chemistry tutor, then you should be able to decide on what course to take, what subjects to cover and the learning style that is going to suit you best. Once you know what you want to do, then you should be able to find a tutor who will be able to help you achieve your goal.Chemistry is a very broad subject and it's extremely difficult to cover all the different branches of this subject without a specialist chemist who specialises in it. It's possible to become a professional chemist without having any specialist knowledge and this would require that you get involved in a course or take part in an internship. These two methods are both hig hly recommended if you want to learn how to find a good chemistry tutor online.Another option if you have just begun your studies in chemistry is to join an online chemistry course. Online courses are often very expensive and it's important that you don't become trapped into signing up for something that is unlikely to be suited to your needs. Online courses often require that you commit yourself to a single study session which can be very expensive and you won't enjoy if you have to sacrifice your weekends in order to be able to take a single course.Getting a good chemistry tutor is essential if you're serious about learning chemistry. Whilst online courses are great, they don't guarantee you will reach your goals in chemistry. If you can't afford the online course, then you might need to look for a private tutor who can offer advice for your particular situation.Taking part in online courses is very beneficial but you must make sure that it suits your schedule, finances and the le vel of chemistry that you're interested in. Some people find that online classes are too structured and that's why they find it difficult to understand their lessons, so it's important that you find a tutor who you can understand and learn with.

5 Things to do Before Going Back to School This Fall
5 Things to do Before Going Back to School This Fall Five Things Every Student Should do Before Going Back to School this Fall Fall is just around the corner, and there are a few short days left until students go back to school. There are some things every student should do before going back to the classroom to be successful and have a well-balanced and low-stress experience throughout the year. Its important to get organized, be mentally rested, and prepare for the year ahead. Students who know what to expect during the first weeks of school are much more likely to be successful overall and enjoy this time of their life as they receive their K-12 education. 1. Organize your workspace Students who have an organized workspace will be able to jump right into homework assignments that will appear sooner than they might think. Students should have access to a desk, paper and pencil to take notes, a laptop or desktop computer, various highlighters, sticky notes and other helpful organizational tools, and a comfortable chair. Keeping on top of assignments and deadlines as well as keeping subjects separated will help students of any grade level prepare for the year ahead (READ: Get your elementary school kid ready for back-to-school in the Fall). 2. Join a study group Most students end up joining a study group after they start falling behind on assignments. However, its better to join a study group before school even starts and get to know other dedicated classmates who will be supportive and serve as good peer role models. Each member of the group should have similar goals and enough time to dedicate to the success of the group. When students break up tasks and help each other stay organized they end up being more successful in general and also have higher self-esteem when it comes to academics. 3. Finish last-minute summer assignments Students in younger grades wont start academic work until the school year starts up in a couple of weeks. Older students, however, may have had summer assignments that are due on the very first day of class. Advanced placement courses have a long list of summer assignments, so its important that students finish all of these assignments in the next few days to avoid falling behind. Additionally, students who are preparing to take their SAT or ACT in the fall want to make sure they have completed all the test prep needed before they tackle classroom assignments. 4. Meet up with school friends Many young students have different friends at school than during the summer. This is especially true for kids who live far away from their local school or attend a private school program. The first day of school is a lot easier when kids can look forward to seeing a good group of friends at the other end of the room. Its a great idea to meet up with school friends before the first day so students can reacquaint themselves and make some plans after school to make the first couple of weeks enjoyable. 5. Find out about the new teacher Students will also be getting to know a new teacher once they start school in the fall and may be a little bit stressed out wondering who he or she will be. Classroom lists are usually available a few days before the start of the school year so kids can find out who their new teacher will be. This takes a little bit of uncertainty out of the first day and makes it easier for kids to feel comfortable in the classroom environment. Start the school year off strong! An Interns Guide Managing Your Companys Social Media Pages
An Intern's Guide Managing Your Company's Social Media Pages Image via Pexels 1. Build the profile If your company does not already have a social media page and you are making one from scratch, do not freak out it is not as hard as it seems. Building a social media account for your company requires a few key steps, all simple but important. Ginny Mineo of HubSpot notes 12 Dos and Donâts of Using Facebook for Business, noting to âuse a recognizable profile picture, include relevant information about your company in the âaboutâ section, and tailor organic posts.â The first two tips noted may seem obvious, but they are important nonetheless! The third tip, âtailor organic postsâ essentially means to utilize the targeting tools Facebook has in order to select your audience by traits such as gender, age, educational level, religion, etc. This is important as it will help your content go to the right audience, only boosting the success of your company. 2. Plan your activity As an intern, you are going to be required to make posts either on a daily or weekly basis. In order to keep your companyâs page relevant and updated, you should build a schedule that includes certain tasks you want to accomplish for the company each day. Megan Conely of socialmediaexaminer.com said the following: âFor example, comment on and/or link content on three different Facebook pages. On Twitter, tweet and retweet 3-5 times per day (you can schedule these). If youâre using Pinterest, pin and repin 3-5 images per day. If LinkedIn is the best platform for your audience, share a link and like other peopleâs links.â By frequently engaging on your social media account, the brand of your company constantly builds, which can then allow you to be more involved in different groups and communities! 3. Note specific trends While you are managing your companyâs social media account, it is important to record certain trends that occur relating to your company. Emily Cobb of HootSuite recommends that the most important aspects to keep note of are, âmentions of your brand or product, purchase intent, and industry news and updates.â Mentions of your companyâs brand or product can be done by typing their name in the search bar with either a keyword or hashtag and can help determine the frequency of people checking out your company. Emily states that purchase intent can help establish your audience and suggests, âinstead of only listing your brand keywords in streams, for example, list words that customers might use when theyâre looking for a solution that your company solves or theyâre evaluating your product.â Image via Pexels Taking control of your companyâs social media pages is not that hard, see? All it takes is knowing how to start and what to do from there. Especially if you understand technology easily and are familiar with social media sites, managing one for a company is a breeze! The great thing about social media and management is that while part of it relies on concrete rules, another part if it relies on you and your creativity! So, let your greatest qualities show and take advantage of all the connections possible through the internet as always, good luck!

The Pros and Cons of New Years Resolutions for Children - ALOHA Mind Math
The Pros and Cons of New Yearâs Resolutions for Children New Yearâs resolutions for children ages 5 to 12, when done well, can be a positive experience. However, if done poorly, they can set up a child to feel disappointed and inadequate, according to mother of three and family therapist Michele Southworth of the Council for Relationships in Philadelphia PA. Unkept New Yearâs resolutions can be even more demotivating for kids, than they can be for adults. âNew Yearâs resolutions are hard enough for adults. Letâs not model for our children the feelings of making a promise to change that, by February 1, theyâve forgotten or failed; letâs not set up our kids to have that experience,â said Ms. Southworth. Resolutions can Help Teach your Children about the Decision-Making Process According to Ms. Southworth, resolutions can be looked at as laying the groundwork to help children learn about the decision-making process and, when achieved, can build confidence for many kids. They can be an opportunity to help children learn how to set realistic goals, and to spearhead a discussion on realistic thinking. Parents and children can have a very fruitful conversation how to go about making choices for yourself, and being responsible for your own success and how having goals can be helpful in life. âAchieving a New Yearâs resolution can help children develop a sense of self, and of being a capable person. It can help them learn to make a decision, to evaluate it, and then to make it happen,â Ms. Southworth said. âThese are work-related skills that can have a lot of value over time, but they are most effective when there is no parental pressure, and when the goals are realistic and internally-driven,â she added. Two Concerns to Watch for When Setting New Yearâs Resolutions with Kids Parents need to guide children in a reality-based discussion that is supportive in helping a child develop the skills to make decisions. âThere needs to be a balance between setting realistic, achievable goals and perhaps pushing themselves a bit to reach them, rather than feeling parental pressure to do so,â Ms. Southworh said. Resolutions Need to Come from the Child, not the Parents âOne thing to definitely watch for is parents suggesting or setting goals for kids, rather than the child selecting a goal for him or herself,â said Southworth. For example, if a child says, âI donât know what I should pick as a resolution,â a parent suggesting, âWouldnât it be great if your New Yearâs resolution was to lose some weight,â is loaded with problems. âParents should not try and sell their own ideas of a resolution to the kids. Adults need to be very clear whose goal it is,â she added. Externally-motivated resolutions can set up destructive habit patterns of pleasing others at the expense of oneâs own needs, and a feeling of failure, even though the goal was not something they really wanted. If parents wish the child would pick a resolution like, âI will get my homework done on time,â the parent should really think of making their OWN resolution instead along the lines of, âI find ways to make it easier for my child to get his/her homework do ne on time this year,â and let the child select something of his/her own desires. Resolutions for Children Younger than 10 âMost kids under 10 donât really have enough of a sense of time or managing themselves for resolutionsto really work,â according to Ms. Southworth. To increase the potential for success for children under 10 pick very simple and achievable goals. Recognize that for your child to be successful, parental involvement may be required. With young children, you might think about a one-time goal, or something that can be repeated monthly, rather than a longer, broader goal. One resolution is more than enough for most children. How to Start a Conversation about New Yearâs Resolutions Ms. Southworth suggested a conversation starter such as: with the new year coming up, some people choose to create a New Yearâs resolution to help them make changes in the coming year. âIs there anything that you would like to be doing differently this year? Or something you want to learn to do, or to do more of, or less of than youâve been doing?â The younger the child, the simpler the resolution should be. If the child picks a wildly unreachable goal parents can talk them through the decision process, âLetâs think how complicated or not that goal is whatâs going to be involved in your doing that?â Without squashing their enthusiasm, adults can talk through the mechanics asking, How hard will it be to do that?â said Ms. Southworth. You can talk about how aiming very high can help them push their boundaries and achieve more than they thought, but that setting a goal too high can leave them frustrated and disappointed if they end up not achieving it. Resolutions for an Older or more Mature for their Age Child Another thing to discuss with older children is to ask how will the child know if they succeeded, how can they measure how well they did? Again, without adding pressure. Ms. Southworth suggested that giving incentives if they follow through on a resolution is usually not effective. Is the child doing the resolution because of an internal motivation or only for the reward? Incentives can also lead to more pressure around the resolution than is good for kids. One of the goals of ALOHA Mind Maths programs is to build confidence in our students. We hope this article helps you decide if New Years resolutions can help build your childs confidence or not, and if so, how to go about it constructively.
Marcus and Xavier Individuals in their own right, but on the same path towards learning success
Marcus and Xavier Individuals in their own right, but on the same path towards learning success Marcus and Xavier: Individuals in their own right, but on the same path towards learning success Marcus and Xavier are seven year old twin brothers who light up their local Kumon Math Reading Center with their wit and charm. Marcus gave his Kumon Instructor a chuckle when he told her he was too tired to get his Kumon homework 100 percent correct. Xavier is good humored and studious. Their individuality complements each other as it gives rise to them both meeting their learning goals. In the first grade, reading wasnât as enjoyable an experience for Marcus as it was for Xavier. In school, Marcus was required to attend tutoring instead of gym class, leaving him feeling frustrated and in the shadow of his brother, Xavier. At the start of the second grade, their parents enrolled them in the Kumon Reading Program. By the end of the school year, Marcusâ reading and comprehension abilities improved, along with his grades and confidence. Marcus beamed when presented with a Perseverance Award from his school. The siblings are on par with their academic progress and Marcus and Xavier have been honor roll students for the past three marking periods at school. Both Marcus and Xavier also achieved Kumon Advanced Student Honor Roll (ASHR) status in Reading. ASHR is awarded to students working on Kumon assignments that are above their current grade level. The boys picked up such a love for reading and every night they fall asleep with a book, says Christina, their mother. âMy husband reads a scary book to them every night, and if he forgets they make sure to remind him.â Their dad, Nando, brings them to the Kumon Center, making sure they are prepared and organized for class. Christina balances their time between academic and recreational activities, knowing when they need a small break from all things academic to engage in other activities. Working closely with their Kumon Instructor, both parents understand Kumonâs independent learning approach and have enjoyed seeing their boys flourish in school. After about a year into the Kumon Reading Program, Marcus and Xavier were enrolled in the Kumon Math Program. Pairing the reading program with the math program builds a solid foundation in their learning abilities. âMarcus and Xavier have become individuals and itâs really cool to observe them grow and advance on their own,â says Ryanne, their Kumon Instructor. Given their current learning pace, by 6th grade, itâs likely they will be at the Kumon advanced algebra level, working their way up to the factor theorem. âI really canât wait,â beams their Kumon Instructor. What a support trifecta â" Marcus and Xavier have each other, their parents and their Kumon Instructor, all cheering them along the road of success. What Is A Good Kd Chemistry Course? The advantages that one can get out of learning chemistry are many. However, some of the basic aspects that these sciences offer may not be clearly understood by most people. What is that chemists are actually interested in?The basic thing that one can look for in a good kd chemistry course is that one should master the concepts. This is a very important aspect and may be of great importance to those who are starting with the new science. A student who is not confident of their knowledge on this subject may find it hard to understand. To ensure that the learning process is successful one must be able to grasp the concepts. This is a must since the subject will focus on a lot of technical details. Knowing the concepts and making sense of them are what make a scientist. It is necessary to understand what is going on under the hood of a substance in order to get the chemical reactions that will be used in producing the desired results.A good kd chemistr y program would teach students how to properly conduct the experiments to find out the chemistry that is actually being done in the process. These are the only ways to test the validity of the experiments and the chemicals involved. A student who has studied chemistry properly is one who knows what they are doing before hand and can perform the experiments right.Having a good kd chemistry class that teaches the students the basics will also help them better understand what they need to do in their career. It will help them better understand the nature of the sciences. This way they will be prepared to tackle challenges that may come their way.In order to get a good kd chemistry program one must work on building up their laboratory. It would help to find a nice lab that is built around a certain material. Usually, it is the place where the chemicals are produced as well as the things used in the process. It is only here that one can have all the chemical substances handy and be able to use them to obtain the desired results. One can find an opportunity to learn the basic aspects of chemistry from all the sources available. A Student Perspective on Boston University
A Student Perspective on Boston University Daniel earned his bachelors degree in American History from Boston University. He specializes in social studies tutoring, SAT tutoring, and more. Interested in Boston University? Check out his review below: Describe the campus setting and transportation options. Daniel: One of the things that appealed to me the most about BU was the urban campus setting. If having a traditional college campus is a top priority, then BU is likely not for you. But if you want the experience to live and study in the heart of a major city every day, then BU should be at the top of your list. The campus consists of a series of buildings along Commonwealth Avenue in the City of Boston. As far as safety goes, I personally never felt unsafe on the campus, although safety is certainly more of a concern than it would be in a less urban atmosphere. The university provides shuttle buses for students, but all classroom buildings are within walking distance of each other. The citys subway system, the T, makes getting around the city both safe and easy. I would not recommend bringing a car, especially as a freshman, since parking can be challenging to say the least. How available are the professors, academic advisers, and teaching assistants? Daniel: I found the professors to be extremely accessible and helpful. Professors are passionate about the subjects that they teach and are always eager to discuss course material with their students. Academic advising was required each semester during the class selection process. The key to a positive relationship with your adviser is to come prepared to every meeting between you and your adviser. This will ensure that you make the most of your time and get the best advice possible. How would you describe the dorm liferooms, dining options, location, socialization opportunities with other students? Daniel: For the most part, dorms are located in the heart of the campus, and you can expect to be placed alongside other freshmen as a freshman. I would strongly recommend researching each of the dorm buildings before making your final choice for your first year. While there is no guarantee that you will be placed in your first choice, researching the various options will make it more likely that youll be placed in a situation that fits your interests and preferences. Each major dorm has a dining hall facility that is open until the late evening. There are several after-hours dining options as well. In addition to dorm life, there are dozens, if not hundreds, of extracurricular activities you can get involved in to meet students with similar interests as yours. I found this to be the easiest way to make friends during my time at BU. Which majors/programs are best represented and supported? Daniel: As a major research university, BU has every possible major imaginable, from liberal arts, to hospitality management, to public health, to international finance. I studied American History and found my experience in the history department to be both intellectually stimulating and richly rewarding. The professors in the department are recognized scholars in their field and I greatly enjoyed learning from them for four years. How easy or difficult was it for you to meet people and make friends as a freshman? Does Greek life play a significant role in the campus social life? Daniel: Meeting people and making friends was a bit challenging for me at first (much of this goes back to what I discussed above about being sure to carefully consider your dorm options before making a selection), but I was able to overcome this through joining a number of extracurricular activities, intramural sports, and clubs. While some people did choose to join fraternities or sororities, Greek life was not particularly prominent at BU. How helpful is the Career Centerand other student support services? Daniel: While I did not use the Career Center myself, friends of mine did, and found their services to be very helpful. As a senior, I participated in the BU Washington Program in Washington D.C., during which I took classes and also interned for a Member of Congress. This experience was invaluable when I moved back to D.C. and pursued a career on Capitol Hill. I believe strongly in the BU Washington Program, and currently teach a course for the program. How are the various study areas such aslibraries, the student union, and dorm lounges? Are they over-crowded, easily available, spacious? Daniel: BU has a large student union in the middle of campus, as well as a multi-story library with significant study space. All large dorms, and most small ones, also have their own study spaces. These spaces are open for most of the day and night, with hours increasing to 24 hours during final exams. I dont recall ever having an issue with space or over-crowding in any of the study areas. In addition, there are a ton of coffee shops on or around the campus, as well as public parks that are beautiful during the spring and fall months. These were also popular places for students to study. Describe the surrounding town. Daniel: I cant say enough about the City of Boston as a college destination. It offers all of the benefits a major city has to offer. This includes restaurants, museums, the Boston Common and other open spaces, and sporting events and concerts, just to name a few. And if you love history like me, theres no better spot in the country than Boston, the site of some of our nations most important events. Students make use of the city constantly. During my time, I felt like the entire city was my college campus, and its an experience I wouldnt trade for the world. How big or small is the student body? Were you generally pleased or displeased with the typical class sizes? Daniel: Theres no denying that BU is a very large school, with about 16,000 undergraduates and almost as many graduate students. Large lecture classes will often have over 100 students, but I never felt lost in the shuffle from an academic point-of-view. This is due to the accessibility of professors and teaching assistants, as I discussed earlier. Smaller seminars have much smaller enrollment, as do discussion meetings for the larger lecture courses. Describe one memorable experience with a professor and/or class. Perhaps one you loved the most or one youregretthe most. Daniel: I loved all of the history courses that I took at BU, but one in particular stands out, and it is coincidentally the first one that I took as a freshman. The course was U.S. History: 1968 Present, and the Instructor was Professor Bruce Schulman. He made great use of music and film clips from the time period we were studying to drive home his points about shifts in American culture traditions over the past 40 years. It really made history come alive for me in a way that it never had before, and reinforced my decision to choose the major that I had. I still remember sitting in the lecture hall the day of first class and listening to the 10 minute montage of speeches and song clips that he used to introduce the course, and how excited it made me to learn what he had to teach.
